HISTORY OF THE SYNAGOGUE

His Lordship, late Bishop Peter Benson Okolie was born to the family of Okolie and Mgbeafor Uluzulike both of blessed memory of Ezike Agu village in Amorka, Ihiala local government area of Anambra state, he grew up like every other child of his time and age and also attended primary education in his local community.

A devote member of the Jehovah Witness faith, living a life of honesty and integrity, the late Benson in 1964 enlisted into the Nigerian Police force where he served meritoriously before his calling.

In Jan.1971, an angel of the Lord appeared to him and led him into the forest to observe a dry fast. The angel made it crystal clear to him that on his way out from the forest after the fast, he will meet a lady, low and behold emerging from the forest after the fast, he saw a lady dressed in white apparel (garment ), in confusion he approached the lady and requested to know if she was serving a mamaid, the lady mama Akunwanyi (who apparently was to become his first wife) smiled and said she was going to church, there and then he followed her to a sabbath church located at Umuoma Uli, presided over then by a well known prophet popularly called sir Luke. On arrival the late Benson began to give prophecies that rattled even Sir Luke himself.

Sir Luke using his spiritual eyes observed that what was in the young Benson was so excessive and far beyond what he could handle, decided to take him to one of the greatest prophet of their time, late prophet Jude Oguaju of House of Prayer Sabbath Mission in Okporo, Orlu local government area of Imo state for more spiritual guidance and tutelage.

In March 1971 the late B.P Okolie, by the inspiration of the holy Spirit founded and established the “Holy House of Praye Sabbath Mission” (biblically deriving the name from Mat 21:15 for my house shall be called a house of prayer ) in his home town, Ezike Agu Amorka, in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state. He built his synagogue on a sacred land set aside for sacrifices to the community’s deity, for this and many other reasons he was dreaded by not only the traditional worshipers and native doctors but also fellow prophets, because he wielded unprecedented super natural powers.

Amongst the miracles God used him to perform include raising the dead, restoration of vision and voice to the blind and the dumb respectively, the lame walked, casting out all manner of evil spirits including the spirit of madness and breaking of generational curses and others too numerous to mention.

By God’s divine power which necessitated the miracles, he was able to open branches at Ifakala, Mbaise, Izombe, Ezi Osu, Nnebukwu, Akabo and Awa all in Imo state, Umunnaeli and Umueze in Ihiala LGA of Anambra state, Rumuekene in Rivers state, Ugbolu and Illa both in Delta state and another branch in Lagos state.

Before his demise in the year 2002, a lot of unforgettable events transpired, but permit me to pen down only two. A brother from Lagos branch by the name Osondu Durueke in a dream saw the late prophet amongst the host of heaven, when he enquired to know what his spiritual director was doing in their midst, their response was that he had been with them for over 2 years, Osondu was perplexed wondering what a man who’s still living is doing in their midst, by divine intervention he never related the dream to any one but had to come all the way from Lagos to narrate his dream to the founder. He told Osundu his dream was true warning him sternly never to relate the dream to anyone till he departs the earth or he will forever remain dumb, the bishop died few months after the dream and it was then made known to the congregation.

Another event was when mother Angelina Agim from lfakala branch was going to her farm and she overheard the founder of Holy Covenantal Sabbath late prophet Philip Nwadikwa shouting that he is seeing a great prophet ascending the skies, he shouted repeatedly and then mentioned the name of the late Peter Benson, on hearing the name mother Angelina ran back home and related the incident to her husband who immediately took off to Amorka only to find out that Peter Benson was no more and his time of death coincided with the time prophet Nwadikwa saw his vision. He died on Wednesday March 22nd, 2002.

Peter Benson lived an exceptionally holy and upright life, he drew many souls to God and left lasting spiritual legacies in the Sands of time

PROFILE OF THE CURRENT SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR ....High Priest Emmanuel Levi Odimegwu

The words of the prophets must come to pass, because they are the words of God and the words of God are words of truth.

In 1974 at Amaputa Uli, in Ihiala, a reputable prophetess of that era, prophetess Okigbo told shepherd mother Rebecca Agnes Odimegwu, late Levi’s mother that though she is pregnant, a child is coming who will take over the mantle from the founder and his name shall be Emmanuel Levi, true to God’s pronouncement in 1975, Emmanuel Levi was born and the elder brother whose pregnancy the mother was carrying when the prophecy was made, departed the earth, having lived for less than two years.

Emmanuel Levi took over on April 18, 2003 after the demise of his father Peter Benson Okolie according to the word of God, before then, the young Levi in his aspirations has made many attempts to leave the shores of the country because he saw the work as one that will not bring to fulfilment his desires and dreams in life, but the spirit of He who called him even before his mother conceived him kept hunting him till he settled down to answer the divine calling.

Emmanuel Levi is not only a priest, he’s a writer, a great composer and a renowned gospel artist, he has many gospel albums to his kitty, all the miracles his father did he has replicated and his commitment, dedication and devotion to the service of God and liberation of mankind is growing daily and the Lord has been with him, just as he was with his father.
